In a recent administrative shakeup, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio yesterday Monday 17th March, 2025 dismissed three high-ranking officials from his government.

They are the Minister of Youth Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Moriba Koroma, and the Managing Director of Sierra Leone National Shipping Company (SLNSC), Ahmed Saybom Kanu. The reasons behind the abrupt terminations remain unclear, sparking widespread speculations and discussions across social media and political circles. No official statement has been released regarding the reasons for their dismissal or their potential successor.
Reports are that the three officials were embroiled in intra-party violence during the recent ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) lower-level elections in Tonkolili and Kenema districts.
Other sources have also disclosed that this bold action by the President was a direct response to the recent suspension of Presidential Youth Envoy, Yulisa Ahmadu, by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, due to serious corruption allegations.
Yulisa Ahmadu, known as Dr. Love, was appointed as the Youth Envoy in the Ministry of Youth Affairs on May 25, 2023. His appointment was proclaimed as a pivotal move to empower the youth of Sierra Leone and champion their interests on both national and global stages.
On January 6, 2025, the Ministry of Youth Affairs issued a formal suspension for Yulisa Ahmadu, barring him from duty for six months due to misconduct and institutional misrepresentation.
The letter explicitly states that Yulisa Ahmadu accepted cash payments from youths with the promise of facilitating their overseas travel, which ultimately did not happen. This conduct is a blatant violation of his mandate to be a true representative and advocate for the youth's voices and interests the letter stated.
This marks a significant moment in which the President has publicly taken a stand to hold Ministers accountable for their actions and ensure integrity within the government.
