Following his venomous attacks, incitements and hate speeches against the Sierra Leone People’s Party Government over the last six years that culminated in incessant violent protests in the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party strongholds in the Northern Region and Western Area, the voice of King Adebayor (real name Willaim Kamara) on social media has faded into insignificance.
Recently, King Adebayor in an inciting statement on social media called on Sierra Leoneans from various walks of life to come out in droves to protest against the government for the economic hardship, inflation and the astronomical rise in the prices of basic commodities.
According to him, the protests would have taken place on the 19th and 20th of August 2024.
Many concerned citizens were worried over Adebayor’s inciting statement on social media given that most of his incitements had been carried out by unscrupulous citizens believed to be members of the main opposition APC.
On 19th – 20th August, 2024, when many citizens in Freetown and other APC strongholds thought Adebayor’s call for protests would be actualized, the entire country was calm and quiet as people went about their normal businesses with no threat of protest.
The reluctance of people to be moved by the inciting statement of King Adebayor on social media was a clear indication that his voice has not only faded into insignificance but many of his followers have also come to hate him following his venomous attacks on the two-time APC presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, for alleged sellout to the SLPP Government after the release of the Tripartite Committee’s Report.
Supporters of the former presidential candidates in turn became loose cannons and attacked Adebayor incessantly from various directions on social media.
A supporter of Dr. Samura Kamara intimated that Adebayor’s call for protests in Sierra Leone failed as a result of his venomous attacks on their erstwhile presidential candidate.
