As the 2028 general election draws closer, the newly elected National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Sir Batilo Songa, has embarked on a global tour to connect with party supporters in the diaspora. His first stop was the United Kingdom and Ireland Region, where he hosted a peace dinner aimed at strengthening unity and reaffirming the SLPP’s commitment to peaceful politics. Chairman Songa emphasized the need for solidarity and cooperation among party members, noting that the forthcoming election will be a critical transition for Sierra Leone. From the UK and Ireland, he is expected to continue his engagement tour in the United States and later extend to other diaspora regions.

His message remains consistent preaching peace, fostering togetherness, and galvanizing support to ensure the SLPP enters the 2028 polls with a united front.

Addressing party stalwarts, he congratulated the Regional Chairman and executive while emphasizing the sacrifices made over the years to establish the region as a stronghold of SLPP mobilization.

Batilo Songa reminded members of the region’s historic role since 2007, when they mobilized resources, sharpened the “New Direction” agenda, and contributed immensely to the election of President Julius Maada Bio. He declared that the fingerprints of UK and Ireland members are evident in every SLPP victory and that history will never forget their sacrifices.

Reaffirming his loyalty to President Bio, the Chairman underscored that the path forward lies in unity, discipline, and loyalty to the SLPP agenda of “One Country, One People.” He urged the region to remain focused on supporting the President’s transformative BIG 5 game changersfood security, human capital development, youth employment, infrastructure, technology, and public sector reform.

The Chairman concluded with a passionate appeal for solidarity, describing the UK and Ireland region as a “pillar of resilience” in the global SLPP family. He called on members to close ranks, strengthen their structures, and work tirelessly to deliver a second mandate for President Bio while safeguarding the unity and progress of the party.
