The National Chairman of the governing Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) has fired up the new National Executive Council (NEC) to make them feel very enthusiastic or motivated ahead of the 2028 national elections.
Speaking at the first National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the party headquarters in Freetown on Monday, 4th August 2025, the SLPP National Chairman, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, emphasised unity and commitment to the party's agenda ahead of the 2028 national elections.
He urged the new executive to embrace unity and eliminate 'campism' within the party, stressing that the SLPP is the only camp that will bring everyone together.
Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa called for an Action Plan and promised to collaborate with all party structures while he encouraged executive members to be aufait with the party constitution.
The meeting was convened amidst reports of intra-party squabbles and divisions, especially the protracted battle for the party leadership, as many stalwarts have declared their intentions to lead the party ahead of the next polls.
