It emerged last night that the grassroots supporters of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party are still in support of their former presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, to contest again in the 2028 presidential election.

The recommencement of registration and verification of party members for lower level elections has also hit the rock as many concerned stalwarts have vehemently condemned the verification exercise on the grounds that they have been party members for many decades and therefore see no justification in the exercise.

Sources within the party disclosed that the controversy swirling over the recommencement of party registration and verification exercise as well as the alleged marginalization of the former presidential candidate by the APC National Advisory Committee (NAC) has already started throwing the party in disarray.

The sources said most stalwarts have distanced themselves from the exercise and have vowed not to partake in the exercise until NAC gives tangible reasons for what they referred to as skewed exercise, while grassroots supporters have expressed their determination to chase the National Executive out if its members continue to marginalize Dr. Samura Kamara, who they believe will take their party to State House, come 2028.

It could be recalled that a few days ago, a stalwart in the APC, Alhaji Ibrahim Kemoh Sesay, who served the former APC Government in various capacities, lashed out at NAC members claiming that they don’t want to see Dr. Samura Kamara in the party because they hate him at the expense of the party.

He therefore warned them to desist from hating the two-time presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, this medium has been reliably told that the reactions of many stalwarts and grassroots supporters to the current controversies over the recommencement of the registration and verification exercise and the calumnious campaign against Dr. Samura Kamara are just a peak of the iceberg as more controversies could arise ahead of the party’s lower level elections.
