Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh yesterday Tuesday, 14th October 2025, officially opened the Fifth Regional Conference of National Land Institutions on Securing Community Land Rights in Africa in Freetown.
Representing His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the Vice President expressed gratitude to the organizers and stakeholders for selecting Sierra Leone to host such a significant regional gathering.
Dr. Jalloh highlighted Sierra Leone’s progress in advancing responsible and sustainable land governance, commending the Ministry of Lands under Dr. Turad Senessie for transforming the sector’s image from land sales to transparent and accountable land management.
He emphasized that securing community and indigenous land rights is crucial for social stability, investment, and sustainable development across Africa.
He noted that Sierra Leone has made remarkable strides through landmark legislations like the Customary Land Rights Act of 2020 and the ongoing digital transformation of land governance systems.
