The National Chairman of the governing Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP), Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, who formally took over from his predecessor, Dr. Prince Alexander Harding, on Saturday 18th October 2025, has disclosed that he resigned from his job in government in order to accomplish his policy goals.

In a bold and focused move, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa said he has officially tendered his resignation as Deputy Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) effective December 2025.

This decision comes as he fully embraces his new responsibilities as the National Chairman of the ruling SLPP.

His resignation marks a clear commitment to party service and leadership as he steps into the role of strengthening party structures, uniting the base, and leading the party into the next phase.

The National Chairman's exit from NaCSA is being seen by many as a sacrifice made through focus, loyalty, and effective leadership.

Meanwhile, the SLPP National Executive Council (NEC) under the dynamic, shrewd leadership of Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa has vowed to unite all facets of the party's machinery. This strategy, they say, will give them the upper hand in the next elections.

The new executive also made a policy that planning ahead is going to be the cornerstone of their administration.
History shows that a united SLPP can never be brought down by any political party.
