APC Flagbearer hopeful Ady Macauley brought energy and conviction to Kholifa Rowala Chiefdom in Magboroka, Tonkolili District, where he met with the party delegates, stalwarts, youth, traders and grassroot supporters in the Tonkolili District in the northern region of Sierra Leone. In a bold and heartfelt speech, Lawyer Macauley emphasized that his presence was not solely about personal ambition but about rebuilding and fortifying the APC for national leadership. Backed by photo evidence of his longstanding sacrifices, he called for a stronger, more structured party, hailing former Chairlady as a lioness of the struggle and praising former President Ernest Bai Koroma for landmark transformational achievements in all sectors of development in Sierra Leone.
Addressing the country’s political state, Macauley said Sierra Leone stands at a crossroads, and that the time for strategic, courageous leadership is now. He highlighted how 60-70% of the population comprises of young people, urging their active participation in national progress. Macauley was equally passionate about women's inclusion, committing to reserving certain leadership positions exclusively for women under 35. "Leadership is not about title but about sacrifice and service to humanity," he said, reflecting on his 21 years of legal service in Sierra Leone and 22 years of pro-bono representation in the UK.
He condemned the SLPP government for what he described as a stolen election and repeated injustices across the country, referencing the killings in various parts as well as his controversial arrest. "I was imprisoned for exercising a constitutional right to peaceful protest on a national television," he said, vowing never to bow to fear or intimidation. Macauley also urged all citizens to take the upcoming census seriously, emphasizing that even unborn children must be counted. Reflecting on history, he pointed to how the SLPP reclaimed power through strategic planning in 1999 and said the APC must adopt the same approach to win in 2028.
Former veteran Chairlady made an emotionally evoking testimony as to Macauley’s character, recounting her arrest alongside Macauley’s ten-day imprisonment during his legal ordeal. She described him as a golden-hearted leader, fearlessly committed to justice. "We need a lion, not a coward," she said, calling for party unity and the election of a leader who would not shy away from the rough political terrain ahead. Her call was echoed by a passionate supporter who confirmed that all of Macauley's statements matched his visible record and sacrifice, declaring his full support for the aspirant.
Chairman Akim, in his remarks, praised Allah and affirmed Tonkolili's unified support behind Ady Macauley, stating that the district recognizes his leadership qualities and dedication. The District Chairlady added that while the party had many lawyers, Tonkolili only truly recognizes two, Ady Macauley and Lawyer Boniface, due to their genuine service over the years. She called for more district-level consultations and tangible developments, including women's grants and the construction of the Mile 91 and Bumbuna roads.
The visit ended with renewed commitment from the district to stand firmly behind a candidate they firmly believe embodies justice, strategy, and unwavering courage.
