In a bold move to accelerate development and restore community confidence, philanthropist and leading contender for the main opposition All People’s Congress party flag bearer, Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as ‘Jagaban’, has pledged a substantial $100,000 (One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) and NLe1,200,000 (One Million Two Hundred Thousand New Leones) towards sustainable development projects in the Tonko Limba Chiefdom, Kambia District. Speaking during a well-attended community engagement in the chiefdom over the weekend, Jagaban emphasized that his support is rooted not in politics, but in a genuine desire to uplift the lives of ordinary Sierra Leoneans in rural areas. “Development must not wait for elections. I am here because this land means something to me, and the people matter even more,” he declared, receiving thunderous applause. The financial pledge is expected to support key sectors including infrastructure, youth empowerment and education.

In his statement, Hon. Ernest Dura Koroma, the political force behind Jagaban’s visit commended the commitment, describing it as a major step towards infrastructural transformation in the chiefdom. He noted that Jagaban’s intervention is a blessing and a strong complement to his own ongoing development efforts in the constituency.

The announcement comes at a time when chiefdoms across Sierra Leone are yearning for meaningful investment and visionary leadership to complement national development efforts.

With this $100,000 and NLe1.2 million commitment, hopes are high that Tonko Limba is now poised for real economic revival and social progress.
Community elders, youth leaders, and women’s groups hailed the pledge as both “timely” and “visionary,”
