The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security has confirmed the summary dismissal of over one thousand (1000) Sierra Leonean employees of the Koidu Holdings Limited in Kono District.

According to a press release on Tuesday 6th May 2025, “We wish to assure all affected parties and other stakeholders that the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) will use all appropriate channels to ensure that the labour and employment rights of its citizens are fully protected in line with the extant labour laws and international best practices.”

The Ministry urged all affected and interested parties to remain calm as it navigates the situation. “We will keep affected parties and the public briefed,” the release concluded.
