Following the second engagement between the All People's Congress (APC) leadership and some stakeholders in the governing Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) at the Speaker's Conference Room in Parliament, there are strong indications that the main opposition party may soon return to the august body.

The meeting, reportedly convened by the Speaker of Parliament, is widely seen as a clear signal that APC Members of Parliament, along with their councillors, are prepared to resume participation in parliamentary and local council activities.

The engagement reportedly brought together key opposition stakeholders, including the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, and his Deputy Leader II, Hon. Aaron Aruna Koroma. Also present was the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, who engaged both the leaders on what sources described as a productive discussion.

During the meeting, the Speaker of Parliament reportwdly advised the opposition leadership against using parliamentary sittings as a platform to pressure the President, noting that there are several alternative channels through which such concerns can be addressed constructively.

Sources confirmed that the ongoing dialogue between the main opposition party and the incumbent government is progressing positively and is expected to create the necessary conditions for APC lawmakers and councillors to return to their official duties.
Speaking on conditions of anonymity, an APC stalwart expressed the party's readiness to reengage.

"As an opposition, we are willing to return to Parliament and work with the incumbent party to move the country forward in the right trajectory. We are not averse to dialogue. That is the reason we were elected by the people of this nation."
