The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) officially announced yesterday Thursday 5th October, 2023, through a public notice from State House that it has lifted all existing traveling restrictions with immediate effect.

The announcement comes as a welcome relief to some erstwhile senior government officials in the former All People’s Congress (APC) Government, who were subjected to various travel restrictions following the release of the findings and recommendations of the three Commissions of Inquiry that were set up by the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Government to investigate them.

President Dr. Julius Maada Bio made the crucial decision which observers believe signals a step towards returning to normalcy after a period of restricted mobility due to various circumstances.

This development means opposition members named in the Commissions of Inquiry can now travel out of the country with no string attached.
