Sonatel, subsidiary of Orange present in Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone, announced that it had recorded a consolidated net profit of 331.7 billion CFA francs ($548.8 million) at the end of the 2023 financial year. This is an increase of 19% compared to the 279 billion FCFA recorded in 2022. Consolidated revenue of XOF1,620.7 billion, up 11.4%.

According to Ecofin Agency, Sonatel attributes this performance mainly to significant investments to meet the growing needs of customers in “a volatile context, marked by increased competitive intensity and socio-economic challenges”. During the year, the company’s capital expenditures amounted to XOF253.5 billion.
The group also attributes its performance to growth in its mobile, Orange Money and superfast broadband activities in all markets (consumer and enterprises) and in all the countries in which it operates. In 2023, Sonatel’s fixed, mobile and Internet subscriber base grew by 6% to 41.1 million. The number of subscribers registered with Orange Money increased by 19.8% to 31.6 million, of which 11.7 million are active.
In 2024, Sonatel intends to pursue its strategy as a multi-service operator by accelerating its growth levers, which are: very high-speed fixed (fiber) and mobile (5G, 4G), and the enterprise market. “We will continue to strengthen our positions in the Mobile Money market by leveraging AI and digital, our superApp Max it and developing new products for an improved customer experience,” said Sékou Dramé the company’s Chief Executive Officer.
