The first batch of proposed ministers appointed by President Julius Maada Bio to serve in the Executive arm in various government ministries are expected to face Parliament today for approval.
These 10 presidential appointees when approved by the legislature will serve in the following ministries in the President Julius Maada Bio’s New Direction led SLPP government:
Jacob Jusu Saffa- Finance; Lawyer Alpha Timbo - Primary and Secondary Education; Alhaji Kanja Sesay - Energy; Mohamed Swaray - Information; Dr Alpha T. Wurie - Health and Sanitation; Dr John Tengbeh - Water Resources; Emma Kowa - Marine Resources; Edward A. Soloku - Internal Affairs; Adekunle King - Labour; Brigadier (Rtd) Simeon Sheriff - Dep. Minister of Defence.
In the meantime, it is still unclear whether the main opposition APC party that regrettably boycotted the oath taking and callously walked out of Parliament in protest of their 16 petitioned MPs will resurface and subscribe to the oath in order to legalize their status.
It is now apparent that the fate of these yet to be sworn APC MPs hangs on a thin strand as they stand to lose their seats in Parliament if they fail to subscribe to the oath after thirty days sessions or sittings as stated in the National Constitution.
