Alhaji Kanja Sesay in the spirit of continuity has praised the past government for increasing the supply of electricity. Significantly, in the past few days, the electricity supply situation in the Western Area has returned to normal after some hiccups immediately after the presidential runoff election was announced on April 4th 2018.
Addressing staff of the Ministry of Energy including EGTA, EDSA and other support staffs, the newly appointed Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay said as political head of the ministry, he does not see party colors.

He maintained that as a professional bent on meeting his ministry’s mandate, it does not matter to him whether you are Green or Red or Yellow from head to toe. He is more likely to have a good working relationship with you if you are performance oriented than flaunting your Green party color and not living up to the task.

Alhaji Kanja Sesay told staff that he has a very important mission to complete, as his boss, the President in appointing him told him that all other development activities hinge on electricity; and that if his government gets electricity right, every other thing will fall into place.

In the handing over note of his predecessor, former Minister of Energy 1, Engineer Alhaji Barrie, informed Alhaji Kanja Sesay that they have made his work easy by detailing all the agreements and ongoing development works including renewable energies that the Energy ministry has on the table.

Among this, is the far reaching document detailing the country’s 2017-2030 electricity generation plans that aim at producing a high of 1, 800 megawatts.
