The erstwhile 2018 and 2023 presidential candidate of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, seemed to have dodged invitation for interview by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown regarding series of audios and videos on various locations bordering on electoral justice compiled by the unit.
According to the invitation letter, “In one of these videos, you were seen referred to as the President elect of Sierra Leone awaiting to assume the reins of power. You were also seen making statements in these videos endorsing you being the president elect of Sierra Leone. In respect of these, you are invited to report to the Cyber Investigations Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters to clarify these issues on Tuesday 4th February, 2025 at 14:00 hours.”
But in a letter to the Director of Crime Services and Assistant Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police (SLP) CID Headquarters, Dr. Samura Kamara’s lawyer, Ady Macauley Esq., referred to the telephone conversation he had with AIG R.P.G. Roberts Esq. where he was informed by the latter that they had tried to reach Dr. Samara Mathew Wilson Kamara (my Client) severally via telephone without success.
The former APC presidential candidate was supposed to have reported at the CID Headquarters at 3:00p.m. on Tuesday 4th February 2025.
Ady Macauley Esq. claimed that following his conversation with the Director of Crime Services, “I have tried reaching my client to convey your message to him without success. I have however been reliably informed that his mother was taken ill and has travelled to the provinces to arrange for her medical care.”
Meanwhile, the controversy over Ady Macauley’s letter to the Director of Crime Services is that while CID Headquarters has invited Dr. Samura Kamara for an interview on issues that were explained in the invitation letter, Lawyer Ady Macauley claimed that … “I will advise that a written invitation be extended to my client stating the reason for the invitation. If I can be of further assistance on this matter, please feel free to reach me.”
