On Monday, 27th October 2025, there was a virtual signing ceremony of the US$10m between the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and Vista Bank Sierra Leone Limited.
In his statement, the Managing Director of Vista Bank Sierra Leone, Pa Ousman Njie states: "Thought we meet virtually, the importance of this moment is tangible. It represents not just the conclusion of financial agreement but the beginning of a transformational partnership - one that will unlock opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs, and communities across Sierra Leone."
The Managing Director disclosed that through this facility, Vista Bank Sierra Leone will extend long-term financing to small and medium-sized enterprises - especially in agriculture, agribusiness, and women- and youth-led ventures, noting that these are real drivers of our nation's economy and the foundation of sustainable development.
"Inclusive finance remains at the heart of our mission, MD Njie assured. "This partnership with EBID gives us the platform to channel credit where it can make the greatest impact - supporting production, innovation, and livelihoods across the country."
As a catalyst for development, this initiative, Mr. Njie states, "complements the Government of Sierra Leone's Medium-Term National Development Plan, while prioritises private sector growth, agricultural modernisation, and financial inclusion.
"It also aligns with EBID's broader regional mandate to foster economic integration financial inclusion and shared prosperity across the ECOWAS sub-region," the MD states.
He said that by improving access to finance for SMEs, "This partnership will directly contribute to job creation, food security, and rural income growth - advancing Sierra Leone’s journey toward economic diversification and resilience."
The Managing Director emphasised that at Vista Bank Sierra Leone, "we view this partnership and a solemn responsibility. We are committed to ensuring that every dollar is deployed efficiently, transparently, and responsibly.
Together with EBID, our terms will uphold the highest standards of governance, monitoring, and accountability. This is not only a financing facility - it is a partnership for transformation and lasting impact"
Mr. Njie expressed their deep appreciation for the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development for their trust and partnership; the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL), particularly the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Sierra Leone, for creating an enabling environment for investment; the leadership of the Vista Group, for their unwavering belief in Africa’s potential; and, finally, the Vista Bank Sierra Leone team, whose dedication drives our su cess every day."
In his closing statement, the Managing Director said:
