The operation, led by ASP Francis Tommy, was triggered during a normal security patrol when officers arrested Mathew Hindowa with 74 wraps of suspected Kush at Malta Lane. Acting on intelligence obtained at the scene, the police executed a search warrant at the same location - a residence reportedly belonging to Unisa Koroma, the fugitive.
Consequently, the search culminated in the discovery of over 4,500 wraps, 15 ounces, and 2 loose quantities of substance believed to be Kush, along with NLe50,800 suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the synthetic drug.
All exhibits have been properly documented and secured as evidence, while investigations continue to crack down on the main suspect and determine the source of the narcotic substance.
Since His Excelkency President Julius Maada Bio on Thursday 30th October 2025, announced a series of decisive and far-reaching measures to combat Kush epidemic during a high-level stakeholders meeting at State House, convened to review the one-year report of the National Taskforce on Drug and Substance Abuse, the police have intensified their fight nationwide against the smuggling, sale, and consumption of harmful narcotic drugs, particularly Kush.
