The United State Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Maria E. Brewer on Thursday June 28, 2018, donated drugs worth of $200,000 to Ebola survivors at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown.

The drugs which are meant for mental, eyesight and others related diseases will be made available in 20 hospitals.

At a ceremony held at the hospital’s boardroom, the Ambassador said, the medicines are donation from the US government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support the Ministry of Health and Sanitation health system strengthening efforts during the Ebola post recovery period.

The Minister of Health, Dr Alpha Wurie on behalf of government and the people of Sierra Leone expressed appreciation and further informed that the government of President Bio is well prepared to uplift the country’s health system for the benefit of its citizens.

The Medial Superintendent, Deen says, Connaught Hospital was key in contributing to the country’s response to the Ebola Outbreak, and has had important role during the recovery phase being one of the hospitals able to effectively respond to the sequence of Ebola survivor.

The Chief Medical Officer, Dr Brima Kargbo who chaired the meeting also expressed his great appreciation over the donation. Present were Senior Medical staff from various departments.
