The opposition All People’s Congress party’sattempt to make mountain out of a mole hill over the sensible and timely sacking Civil Servants who blatantly and evidently politicized their jobs at the detriment of their professions hasvirtually reduced the scrappy party into a laughing stuck.

It is absolutely disgusting to see APC stalwarts and supporters politicizing President Bio’swell-timedand radical administrative transformation by weeding out professions in the Civil Service overtly seen wearing campaign outfitsin the past elections from his New Directionfor fear of being sabotaged and others for incompetency and corruption related activities.

President Bio thrust for good governance goes beyond ethnicity as politicized by his critics as he had evidently demonstrated it through the uncompromising sacking of his tribesmen, David Vandy for grave administrative blunders that have the propensity to sabotage his regime and his short-lived Attorney General, Charles Margaifor reasons that contradicts his new direction policies.

However, apoliticalcitizenshave out-rightly depoliticized President Bio’ action but rather welcomed it since it is akin to that taken by ex-President Koroma immediatelyhe assumed the mantle of leadershipin 2007 for fear of being sabotaged by those he perceived as SLPP loyal Civil Servants.

According to them, because ex- President Koroma does not have trust in those he met manning strategic positions in the late President Kabbah led SLPP government; he without any protocol sacked most of themheading key government positions, and also dissolved all boards of Parastatals and Agencies etc.without any recourse to proceduresand conventions.

When President Koroma assumed power, he immediately sacked the likes Dr John Karimu- National Revenue Authority (NRA), Dr J. D Rogers-Bank Governor, Alhaji Kakay- Sierra Leone Commericial Bank, Kamararay –Accountant General, Late IshmailKabbay-Sierra Leone Roads Authority, Kanji Daramy- Natcom, Dr Bob Kandeh- Procurement Unit, Justin Bangura –NaCSA, Emmanuel Gaima-Decentralization, Alhaji Cole –State Lottery, Prof. Aiah Kpakima- University of Sierra Leone, among several others.

Therefore, they see nothing wrong in President Bio taking similar action not only because of lack of trust, but because most of them have politicized their jobs by publicly putting on APC attires, forgetting they are professional. Though they have the right to belong to a political party but they should not make in public since they are professionals
It is clear that, Tanzania which is now an admirable nation under President Magbufuli virtually carried out the same administrative reforms and brought in his trusted folks to help in achieve his dreams which to a large extent have now transformed the lives of the ordinary citizen on the street.

“With the magnitude of corruption unearthed in the Auditor General’s report year in year out with no action taken, Civil Servants are now swimming in unexplained wealth at the detriment of the citizenry and the nation. Hence it is timely to weed them out for possibly investigation,” they urged.
