His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has appointed, with immediate effect, Mr. George Taylor, Director General of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA).
According to confirmed reports, President Bio made the appointment consistent with the ongoing efforts to reform EDSA, given the appointee's vast experience and knowledge in administration and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The Ministry of Energy reaffirmed President Bio’s strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and the sustainable transformation of Sierra Leone's energy sector.
A seasoned banker and IT specialist, Mr. George Taylor rose through the ranks at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) and eventually headed the bank as its Managing Director.
It was during Mr. Taylor's tenure as Managing Director that the SLCB made a financial u-turn and started making profits and paying dividends to the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) as the highest shareholders of the bank.
Mr. Taylor is a shrewd administrator whose administrative acumen was very impactful at the SLCB, where he trained many young bankers, some of whom are now decision-makers of the bank.
With his appointment as the new Director General of EDSA, it is expected that Mr. Taylor's wealth of experience and knowledge of administration can be very impactful in taking the Authority to another level that would be appreciated by Sierra Leoneans.
