The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown yesterday, Thursday 5th February 2026, released the main opposition All People's Congress (APC) National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq. from police custody after he was invited for questioning related to his utterances at their "mammoth meeting" held at the Attouga Mini Stadium in Freetown on Saturday 31st January, 2026.

Lansana Dumbuya Esq. was detained after the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) had slammed NLe200,000 fine on him for breaching the Revised Political Parties Code of Conduct of November 2025, as well as Zainab Sheriff, who was also fined NLe150,000 for her utterances at the same "mammoth meeing," though APC has claimed that she is not a member of the party.
Some members of the party hierarchy who expedited Lansana Dumbuya's release from police custody included its Acting National Chairman, Alhaji

Osman Foday Yansaneh, the Opposition Leader in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Chief Whip, Hon. AKK, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyer, Alhaji Sheikh Mohamed Omodu Kamara aka APC Jagaban, amongst others.

It could be recalled that yesterday, Hon. Abdul Kargbo announced the suspension of APC's participation in all parliamentary activities when he was addressing journalists outside the CID Headquarters.
The MP emphasised that the decision would remain in effect until their National Secretary General was released from police custody.
