The Chief Executive Officer of the leading mobile GSM operator in Sierra Leone, (Orange SL), Madam Aminata Kane has excelled in representing her company at the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly discussions on Bid Data for Better Lives: Redefining how the world responds to those in need.


She shared platform on Big Data for Better Lives Mobile, Statistics and hindsights with Minister of Information and Communication, Mohamed Rado Swarray, together with other GSM operator CEOs globally on how they could contribute in improving the lives of people.

Her participation in the global discussion speaks volume of the company’s recognition in bringing innovation and affordable services customers are enjoying in the country and other part of the world where Orange is in operation.

The CEO utilized her long standing expertise in telecommunication from Europe to Africa, as she thrilled the audience on how GSM operators can contribute in improving the lives of people.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Madam Aminata Kane said big data was the biggest discussion between public sector and businesses on how they could ensure it creates better lives for people.
According to her, the public and private sector, NGOs, business and government involved in the discussions and the dialogue aspect she found very constructive and interesting. She reiterated on the

panel discussion on mobile for development to which DSMA Global GSM operators invited her to participate on how operators can contribute to communications, especially in Africa.

Explaining how Orange Company is contributing to the attainment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Madam Aminata Kane, reiterated on the introduction of Orange Money in 2007 in the financial sector in which Orange money wallet is being used to cash in and cash out in order to meet the basic needs and availabile to most of the people.

She further spoke about the company making available solar panel kits to people in communities under network of proximity which is in line with the SDG on energy.

The C.E.O also spoke of her company’s stride in making a real difference in the lives of people through communication.
She highlighted the company strategies in empowering women through improved talents, creative opportunities and mentoring them on businesses through dedicated offers that tailored especially to women.
