In spite of FIFA ‘suspension, the government of Sierra Leone has confirmed that, the Sierra Leone Football Association President, Isha Johansen and Secretary General, Christopher Kamara, indicted by the anti graft body for corruption will face trial without any interference.

Despite government’s frantic effort to peacefully mediate the stalemate in the association, the Director of Sports, Dr. Kenneth Brima has assured that, the legal process of the Anti-corruption Commission would neither be interfered with nor obstructed

Conversely, the Ministry of Sport will constitute a delegation to Zurich comprising all parties to engage the world governing football body, FIFA to further resolve the current impasse, especially the lifting of the suspension.

Three days to the Sierra Leone vs. Ghana encounter in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, FIFA suspended the country’s football association for what they described as a third party interference.

This comes, after the country’s anti-graft body set aside the association’s president, Isha Johansen and her Secretary General, Chris Kamara for alleged misappropriation of funds,. They were also barred from entering their respective offices, pending outcome of the trial

The duo was also refused access to the associations’ bank account.

According to FIFA, the suspension will stay, until Isha Johansen and Christopher Kamara are reinstated and granted full access to the association’s bank account.
