The amount of money alleged to have been squandered by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in the name of implementing four youth empowerment projects under the former APC government is staggering.

At last week’s proceedings of Justice Biobele Georgewill, to get firsthand knowledge of whether the monies said to have been spent on implementing the Youths Drainage Clearance, Farm, Fisheries and Village projects were ture, the Commission moved to the various sites.

To the astonishment of the Commission, on a fact finding visit to the proposed youth farm close to Masiaka, it was found out that, there was very little that was tangible for the Commission to see in terms of work done.

With regards the Youth Farm project, it has been alleged at the Commission that former Minister Bai Mahmoud demanded a kickback of Le300 million from a Le1 billion payment to land owners for the youth village in Koinadugu district

Meanwhile, Justice Biobele last week ordered that, the Former Ministers of Youth Affairs, Alimamy Kamara and Bai Mahmoud respectively appear before the Commission as persons of interest.

So too the coordinator of the Youths Drainage project, Rev. Ibrahim Koroma, the head of Street Life Family and popular musician, Milton Coker aka Collabo in relation to huge amounts of monies that they received for implementation of the youth drainage project.
Le25 billion is said to have been spent on the youth drainage project. Le500 million was disbursed to Collabo.
