The ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party and arch political rival the main opposition All People’s Congress will lock horns once more in Falaba district, the traditional stronghold of the opposition where the ruling SLPP won the parliamentary rerun bye election hands down in less than a month.


This time, the two major political parties will battle over whose candidate would become the district council chairman in the October 26th 2019 elections. The position was previously held by the opposition APC

With the National Electoral Commission having declared campaign open, both parties are busy canvassing their supporters, even though tension continues to high, SLPP in Falaba are confident that their candidate, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay will clinch the District Council Chairman seat

The SLPP candidate at his declaration stated that with his election, an era of injustice, deprivation, marginalization, and suffering will come to an end.
Nabieu Conteh, a party stakeholder said they are optimistic about a landslide victory because the SLPP candidate is a grassroots mobilizer and skilful political strategist.

Meanwhile, the opposition APC having lost the parliamentary rerun bye election to SLPP in Constituency 040 in Falaba District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone, a seat they won in the March 07 2018 elections, has vowed to fight back to gain control of their stronghold.

Senior members of the party, including those that were aggrieved for various reasons, which include but not limited to the belittling way they were treated by theirChairman and Leader in the flagbearer race have resolved to join the campaign trail to ensure the party retakes the district.
