Following fierce riot at Wallace Johnson Street around the Central Police Division vicinity that saw one vehicle burnt down and several people injured, with no arrest effected, some senior police officers attached to the division have been suspended with immediate effect pending investigation.


The Satellite understands that the Local Unit Commander, Chief Superintendent Francis Hazely, Support Officer, Superintendent Salifu Conteh, Akim Gibri and four others are on suspension for what the police leadership believe was negligence of duty.

When the riot broke out last Sunday around the division’s vicinity, no personnel from the division showed up at the scene of crime to halt the rioters or effect arrest, except personnel from far away division that responded but rather late after the rioters had wrecked havoc and disappeared into thin air.

A Memo dated Friday 31st January,2020 from the Directorate of Human Resource Management of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) necessitated the replacement of the Local Unit Commander of the Central Police division and also effected the following transfers among senior rank officers in other divisions, effective Monday 3rd February 2020.

Superintendent Abu Bakarr Kallon, Crime officer, Central Division has been promoted to Local Unit Commander (LUC) in the same Central Division to replace the suspended LUC, CSP Francis Hazely.

According to the Memo, only the LUC of Central Police Division has been replaced amongst the suspended officers.

Other transfers have been effected in Harbour and Lumley Divisions and the Peace Keeping Office at Police Headquarters.

Chief Superintendent Kadie Samura moves from Local Unit Commander Harbour Division to Head of Human Resource, Police Headquarters (PHQ). CSP Denis M. Taylor, LUC Lumley Division moves to Harbour Division as LUC.

Supt Abdul Moijueh moves from Regional Traffic Office (R.T.O). Lumley Division promoted to LUC in the same Lumley Division while Supt Osman S. Mansaray, Head of Human Resource at Police Headquarters (PHQ) demoted to Deputy Head of Human Resource.

Supt John Tumbay moves from Peace Keeping Office (PHQ) to Regional Headquarters-Freetown West as R.T.O; while Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) Kelfa Sannoh has been promoted from Peace Keeping Office (PHQ) to Head of Peace Keeping Office.
