The National Secretary General of Timber Association in Sierra Leone, Alhaji Bah has refuted reports on Social Media purporting that members of the Association were seriously aggrieved with Leadway Company’s “…monopoly over timber export in the country.”

Mr Alhaji Bah was called up by this press when social media news alleged that his association was planning a demonstration contesting the issuance of a further 7,000 container franchise for export, following the exhaustion of the initial 13,000 containers.

Speaking to the Satellite Newspaper, the Secretary General, while dissociating his association from the claims, stated that they were comfortable working with the Chief

Executive Officer of Leadway Company Mr. Babadi Kamara, saying Leadway Company has expeditiously handled the Timber business in the country. “We have never had any problem with Babadi Kamara,” he noted.

He added that over 13,000 containers of timber have successfully been shipped out of the country which has generated huge revenues for government. Alhaji Bah categorically warns mischief makers from using their association’s name to inject rancor in the timber exporting market.

“We are very pleased working with the CEO of Leadway Company Mr. Babadi Kamara,” emphasizing further that his association is a well regulated body that considers His Excellency President Bio’s appointment of Mr. Babadi Kamara a prudent action.

“The timber business has created a lot of employment for people in the country. We as an association did not face any problem with the sole right given to Mr. Babadi Kamara,” Bah concluded.
