The memo dated 20th March, 2020, which was released late on last Friday night by the Director of Human Resource Management of the Sierra Leone Police, Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) Jorwulor A. Gbonnoh, shows a major shake-up at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).


The shake-up saw senior personnel attached at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown transferred to different police divisions across the country.

The transfer order of personnel at the CID was effected immediately the newly appointed and approved Inspector General of Police, Michael Ambrose Sovula assumed office on Friday 20th March, 2020.

The third in command at CID Headquarters, Superintendent Samuel E.S. Williams, Operations Officer (OPS Officer) was transferred to Pujehun District Police Divisional Headquarters as Support Officer. While Supt. Adeyemi Coker, Support Officer, Pujehun District, is transferred at CID Headquarter as Operations Officer.

Supt. Francis S. Tengbeh, Exhibit Clerk, CID Headquarter has been transferred to Mountain Division as General Duty, while Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Menlah Bangura, Line Manage, Anti-Fraud Unit CID Headquarter is transferred to Aberdeen Division as General Duty.

ASP Kenewa John Squire attached at Central Division as OPS Officer has been transferred to Pujehun Division as General Duty, while ASP Ibrahim M. Sama, Officer –In- Charge, Blama Police Station is transferred to Central Division as OPS Officer.

This transfer order is reported to be part of a strategic drive to restructure all police divisional headquarters and units in a bid to achieve the aspirations and ambitions of executing professional policing in the SLP.
