The Health Education spokesman at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Mr. Harold Thomas has revealed that there are nine quarantine locations and four hundred and forty one persons have been in quarantine so far.

One hundred and forty have been discharged and three hundred and thirty seven are in self-quarantine.

He broke the news at the maiden press conference held by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation at the Ministry of Information auditorium in Freetown, yesterday March 23, 2020 to give an update on the country’s state of affairs on the corona virus.

Thomas said there is a permanent coordinating system and a well activated public information network and a surveillance team with robust medical background, coupled with an infection and control unit that is currently working.

He said the public education office is jointly linked in the process and although corona virus has affected forty two countries with an update of one thousand, one hundred and seventeen deaths. Sierra Leone so far is amongst the few safe countries in the world.

The deputy Minister of Information, Madam Mamadie Ngobeh Kamara assured that the government has put in place rigid control in all three hundred and three official, unofficial and land crossing borders between the two neighboring countries of Guinea and Liberia.

She disowned social media rumors going round the country, noting that only unpatriotic citizens in time of grief and panic can rely on sabotaging the nation.
