Africcell, the leading GSM operator in Sierra Leone and African Young Voice Television (AYV TV ) last Thursday 30th July, 2020 launched Housemate Salone season two (2).
The event which took place at Lagonda entertainment complex in Aberdeen in Freetown brought together high personalities in society including Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt, Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swarray, Minister of Youth Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura, CEO of AYV TV, Anthony Navo Jnr., CEO of Africell, Shadi Gerjawi, the winner of season one housemate salone, Kenchin Palmer among others.
Speaking before the officially launch, the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Memunatu Pratt underscored the significance of the housemate salone, saying it would help rebrand Sierra Leone to tourists and also attract international attention.
According to her, housemate salone being the first major event during COVID-19, the tourism sector will be rekindled and overcome the impact of the pandemic in the country.
She said the show will be remarkable and give the society a new expression of life.
Africell CEO in his stament, Shadi Gerjawi allayed the fears of the people maintaining that the required health precautionary measures will be observed as the event will be streamed live .
He said the show would also help people stay at home and watch the show that will be on 24hrs.
According to him, all participants will be quarantined in the house with no contact with the outside world.
AYV CEO, Ambassador Anthony Navo Jnr. reiterated that the theme for this year ‘Quarantined Drama’ indicates the state of affairs in the fight against the disease in the country.
He said AYV TV and Africell aim at empowering young people and showcase them to the outside world.
He said the cost of the application form is Le150,000 and will be available in all Africell and AYV offices countrywide from the 1st -20th August, 2020, and for the Diasporas, they would apply online through AYV and Africell websites respectively.
Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swarray reiterated that housemate salone show was in line with President Bio’s vision for young people to actualize their talents locally and internationally.
He congratulated the organizers and informed them that the president and his wife were very adoring about entertainment in the country.
