After winning the March 2018 presidential run-off elections, the ruling Sierra Leone people’s Party continues to harass, intimidate and arrest members and supporters of the opposition All People’s Congress party that lost the presidential election. Since the elections ended, there has been an incidence of violence against APC members and supporters by SLPP hoodlums in several parts of the country with police doing nothing to protect the APC victims.

In the west end of the capital city, Freetown, at the APC Lumley branching office, after clash between SLPP and APC supporters in constituency 110 parliamentary bye-elections on August 26th 2018, police arrived to arrest the APC branch secretary and three other officials, namely the youth leaders, Abdulai Kamara, his deputy Sulaiman Koroma and Fatmata Binta Jalloh. It is believed that one of the wanted persons, Muctaru Barrie who the police said was accused of inciting the violence left the country long before the said incident. The whereabouts of the three other suspects is unknown.
