Daughter of Sierra Leone, a charitable organization has on last Thursday 24th September, 2020 boosted the Freetown Cheshire Home at Race Course, Cline Town with learning materials and food items.

Freetown Cheshire Home is a home that looks after children with various forms of disabilities, caring and empowers them through quality education.

Daughter of Sierra Leone is a generosity organization registered both in USA and Sierra Leone respectively by the Founder, Rita Fellah Arah Kamara, an indigene of Aberdeen Community in Freetown residence in California, United States of America (USA) unleashing the power of women to help transform the lives of the needy in communities.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Daughter of Sierra Leone Local Coordinator, Mahawa Kallon revealed that the organization came to know about the constraints of the home through Ambassador Mohamed Bashiru Sanusi which they thought prudent to intervene in their little way.

She further reiterated that the home will be one of their intervention areas to render support when the need arises though the organization philanthropic services centre to support the less privileged in society especially women.

According to her, similar donations are not only happening in Sierra Leone to the less privileged but in other Africa countries as well with support from the Founder, Rita Fellah Arah Kamara.

Freetown Cheshire Home Management Committee Chairman, Dr. Abdulai Dumbuya gave a brief background about the home saying is a historic place established in 1962 and open by the late Sir Milton Margai.

He said Cheshire Homes are in over fifty three countries established by Law Cheshire, a pilot during the World War to look after different forms of disabilities children.

He expressed gratitude to the Foundation and called on them to continue such gestures to the home and look forward to maintain the relationship.

Head of Operations at the home, Ibrahim Bangura said that Cheshire Home is a government sub-vented institution but the supports are not forthcoming to run the home.

He said the management often find it difficult to run the home with no access to government funds unless well wishers coming to their aid to salvage situations.

He disclosed that he and the chairman went through the home with other members who are in positions of trust because the home empowers children with quality education, caring and make them self reliant in society.
