The fastest and highest selling newspaper in Sierra Leone on Friday 18th December, 2020 at Golden Tulip Hotel, Aberdeen, Freetown received the prestigious National Development Award as Print Media of the Year 2020 organized by Diaspora Focus.

The award was in recognition of the newspaper for its fair and objective reporting on issues of national interest.

The Satellite newspaper which is widely read in the country for its niche market on sport and human interest reporting has won series of prestigious awards from various organizations including Sierra Leone News Vendors Association, Diaspora Focus, among others.

The newspaper has won the fastest selling newspaper of the year thrice in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively organized by News Vendors Association.

Making his statement, the Chief Executive Officer of The Satellite newspaper, Ibrahim Babatunde Sesay expressed delight for the recognition in national development.

He registered commitment to continue in that direction thereby contributing to nation building.

The CEO dedicated the award to his staff, sponsors, advertising agencies, fans of the Satellite and readers for the success achieved this year.

The award, the CEO noted, is not any surprise as the newspaper has been the fastest and highest selling newspaper in the country for the five past years.

“We will do our best to maintain market lead in the print media landscape,” he vowed.
