His Excellency, the President, Rtd Brig. Julius Maada Bio on Friday 19th February, 2021, hailed Socfin Agricultural Company for their major investment and assistance to the country and the people of Sahn Malen in Pujehun.

Speaking to the mammoth crowd that gathered to witness the formal commissioning of the company’s multi-million dollars state of the art oil processing mill, President Bio said, he was very impressed with Socfin, hence, urged the people of Sahn Malen and Pujehun District to embrace the company.

President Bio thanked Socfin for grinding the road, building schools and all the assistance they have rendered to the country. “I was very impressed with all your work” President Bio noted.

He therefore urged all the faction in Sahn Malen and particularly Hon. Shaka Sama to embrace Socfin and ensure peace prevails in the district.

“This is the time we should focus on development and stop all the fighting, Socfin issue is now on my desk and I want peace to prevail in the district”. President Bio told the audience.

Socfin’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Gerben Haringsma in his brief statement said, the company and Sierra Leoneans have created together an industry to make the country totally independent of import of basic food items like palm oil.

According to him, the company has exported large quite number of palm oil in other countries.

He acknowledged the good leadership exhibited by Paramount Chief Kebbie at Sahn Malen Chiefdom to ensure the success of the company.

"It is a personal victory for me because we all started this project eleven years ago and today Mr. President is doing me the enormous honour of finalizing this project. Am an old man. I can now sleep quietly that the project has done and our capable General Manager, Mr. Philip Tonks will take over. I am grateful to the people of Sahn Malen" he averred.

He further assured the people of Sahn Malen that Socfin is here to stay for the people of Sahn Malen and the country at large.

He spoke about the discussion held with the company's management and government to increase corporate social responsibility to the community.

He also spoke about Hon. Shaka Sama registered commitments to fully participate in the company of 2021 as a year of peace and reconciliation.

Hon. Shaka Sama lauded the contributions of the company to the development of the Chiefdom and further assured the audience that he will work amicably with Socfin in the interest of people.

Also, the Paramount Chief of the chiefdom, Chief Kebbie thanked Socfin for the tremendous work they have done in his chiefdom. “I am very happy with Socfin as they have employed thousand of youth in my chiefdom” Paramount Chief Kebbie stated joyfully.
