The governing Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) mayoral candidate for the Freetown Municipality, Mohamed Gento Kamara, will today Friday 28th April, 2023 go through his nomination process at the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (EC-SL) office at Murray Town in west end Freetown at 10:00a.m. The SLPP candidate for the Chairmanship positrion in the Western Area Rural District (WARD), Eugene Ayo-Cole, will also go through the nomination process today at the EC-SL office at Waterloo.
According to a public notice, Mohamed Gento Kamara, the mayoralty in waiting, will address supporters and well-wishers at the Murray Town Field immediately after completing his nomination process.
The notice therefore encouraged supporters and well-wishers to make it a point of honour to grace the all-important occasion. A similar event is also expected to take place at Waterloo where Eugene Ayo-Cole will address his supporters and well-wishers after the nomination proces.
Since his endorsement as the SLPP mayoral candidate at the February 2023 13th National Delegates’ Conference in Freetown by His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio, the support Mohamed Gento Kamara has drawn from the electorate across political divide is enormous and he continues to consolidate support from Freetownians through his philanthropic approach towards humanity, his interventions during disasters, his creation of job opportunities for young Sierra Leoneans, and his good rapport with the Muslim Community in the Municipality and beyond.
The SLPP mayoral candidate has for the umpteenth time told Freetownians that he would provide proper service delivery when elected, and that during his tenure he would ensure that every household gains access to drinking water; cleaning Freetown and recycling the waste to energy for proper electricity; and to unify Freetown and break tribalism.
As he put it: “Regardless of tribal belonging, we all belong to one nation. It is very significant for all of us to put hands on deck, devoid of political or tribal differences to holistically work towards the progress and development of the Freetown Municipality and the entire country.”
At every event, Gento has called on Sierra Leoneans to support the SLPP’s winning team that has emerged and to cast their votes massively for His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, his running-mate, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, and for him as Mayor of Freetown so that he would usher in meaningful and sustainable progress and development.
Meanwhile, Gento has entreated his numerous supporters to maintain an inclusive political strategy campaigning beyond party and tribal lines, hence his mayoral aspiration is mainly to resolve our tribal indifferences and to create a platform for total unification.
