Orange Sierra Leone, the undisputed leader in the telecoms industry in the country, has just ended its annual athletic sport meet for employees held at the St. Edwards School recreational ground - May Park at Kingtom in Freetown.
The annual sport meet was geared towards enticing and promoting team spirit among employees of the company.
In her statement at the first day of the event, Orange SL Director of Human Resources, Agnes M. Songa, expressed gratitude to all employees in Freetown and the provinces that participated or witnessed the event.
The Director stressed that the sport meet was a remarkable stage for the company in the development of fostering unity and good working relationships among employees, as well as to commit them to their duties.
According to Agnes M. Songa, sport meets are often connected with schools but Orange SL has changed the narrative by taking the lead as a corporate institution.
“The objective of the sport meet is not only to compete but to also foster unity, love, interaction and the development of working relationships among employees,” she averred, adding, “By bringing employees together, Orange SL is aimed at creating a platform where they can connect with new colleagues they may not have previously met in the workplace.”
Orange Operational Marketing Manager, Elizabeth Walker, said she was excited for the company's first venture into organizing an athletic sport event.
The Manager congratulated the winners, pointing out that everyone was a winner, irrespective of their positions on the scoreboard.
She said the sport event was the company's philosophy of valuing every individual's contribution and acknowledging their efforts in taking the company to higher height.
