Political dialogue has reportedly intensified behind closed doors between key stakeholders and the elected Members of Parliament in the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) over their continuous boycott of State governance at all levels following claims that the Saturday 24th June, 2023 multitier election results announced by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) were rigged.

According to report, the political dialogue is hinged on how to resolve the impasse between the APC party and the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) so that the elected MPs will take the oath of office and occupy their seats in Parliament in September after a short recess this month.

Some stalwarts in the main opposition APC that spoke to The Satellite about the ongoing political dialogue on condition of anonymity believe the continuous boycotting of State governance will be resolved as the elected MPs themselves are tired of not representing their people who voted them to Parliament.

“Based on the last political dialogue in Makeni early this month, the key stakeholders are aware of the fact that the elected MPs have already expressed their desire to take their seats in Parliament and our could deepen if they stand on their way,” one of the stalwarts said.

Meanwhile, there was a drama in Parliament yesterday when one of the 53 elected APC MPs boycotting State governance, Alfred Ayodele Thompson from the Western Urban District, sworn in as a Member of Parliament following the Saturday 24th June multitier elections.

Hon. Alfred Ayodele Thompson therefore joins the brave Hon. Mohamed Bangura as the second APC elected MP to take the oath of office as Member of Parliament.

The Satellite also gathered that had it not been for the meeting that was held on Monday 7th August, 2023 at the APC Secretariat on Old Railway Line at Brookfields in Freetown, more elected MPs would have taken the oath of office in Parliament yesterday like Hon. Alfred A. Thompson did.

With development unfolding, it is now evident that the elected APC Members of Parliament are now ready to represent their people in Parliament and nothing can stop them. As at press time, The Satellite learnt that more elected APC

Members of Parliament are expected to take the oath of office on Thursday 10th August before Parliament will proceed on a short recess this month of August..
