The Minister of Information and Civic Education recently challenged social media miscreants claiming that some senior government officials were involved in Kush trafficking in Sierra Leone to name those officials and show evidence of their involvement in the illicit deal. Since the Minister threw that challenge during one of the government weekly press briefings, none of these social media misfits had come forward to call names or show evidence of the involvement of some senior government officials in Kush deal.

Prior to the Information Minister’s open challenge to unscrupulous social media mercenaries propagating against senior officials to give the government bad name for obvious political gains, some had wrongly accused Vice President Juldeh Jalloh of being deeply involved in Kush trafficking in order to deflate his political balloon, knowing fully well that he could be the likely successor to His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio when the second term of the latter would have ended in 2028 or 2030.

Those behind the negative propaganda against the Vice President are elements of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) that are bent on damaging the reputation and integrity of senior members of the governing Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) for political gains ahead of the next national elections.

Notwithstanding, the veracity of their damning allegations against the Vice President regarding the trafficking of Kush into Sierra Leone has been questioned by well-meaning Sierra Leoneans who hold him in high esteem given his reputation and integrity as an International Civil Servant in the United Nations, his political finesse and quintessential gentleness.

Before His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio declared a National Emergency on Drug and Substance Abuse last Thursday, he had given the task to VP Juldeh Jalloh to establish a National Task Force on Drug and Substance Abuse that would involve all facets of society in Sierra Leone to fight the menace. Since then, the Vice President and other stakeholders in government are being very much determined to put the necessary modalities in place for the fight against Kush in the nook and cranny of the country.

He is leading the crusade against Kush because the President believes his second in command is a paragon of virtue in whom he is well pleased for not disappointing him since 2018.

By and large, those peddling negative social media propaganda against the Vice President in relation to the synthetic lethal drug for political gains should understand the truism that what God has blessed, no man can curse. VP Juldeh Jalloh as a blessed son of the soil came from the blues and became our Vice President at a time when only a few Sierra Leoneans knew him on the political landscape of this country.

This is clear indication that he’s destined to lead and no amount of negative propaganda by the main opposition APC would dampen his resolve for national leadership, no matter whose ox is gored.

When Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh would have finally made history by been the first Vice President to complete his second term in the Second Republic of Sierra Leone, we would see how the SLPP leadership for the next national elections could play out. But no amount of character assassination or blackmail from the main opposition will destroy his political career or his chances of leading the governing party to the next national elections in the name of the Almighty Allah.
