A wave of excitement swept through the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbour Authority (SLPHA) as female staff celebrated the introduction of a new dress code aimed at promoting professionalism, comfort, and cultural inclusivity in the workplace.
However, the new policy, which was officially implemented on Monday by the dynamic leadership of SLPHA, Mr. Yakuba Bio has been widely praised by the staff.

“This is a victory for us,” exclaimed a senior female administrator at the Authority. “The new dress code allows us to dress in a way that reflects both our professionalism and our cultural identity without unnecessary restrictions.”
She further spoke about the digitalization of all departments at SLPHA for ease of carrying out their daily duties.

The change has been welcomed not just for its practicality but also for empowering women to feel more confident and comfortable at work.
Jubilant scenes were witnessed across various departments, with female staff members embracing the change. They further expressed heartfelt gratitude to SLPHA Director General for listening to their concerns.

“This is a progressive step,” said another long-serving staff member. “It shows that our voices matter, and we are being considered in workplace policies.”

With this positive shift, the SLPHA hope to foster an even more inclusive and productive work environment, setting an example for other institutions in the country.
