His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, accompanied by the First Lady, Her Excellency Dr Fatima Maada Bio, on Monday 5th January, 2026 joined family members, friends, party supporters, and members of the Lebanese community to pay final respects to the late Talal Saleh Fawaz, popularly known as Junior Bio. The funeral prayers were held at the Lebanese Islamic Cultural Association headquarters on Kingharman Road,
Freetown where President Bio acknowledged the late Fawaz’s unwavering support and contributions during the 2023 presidential campaign.
Before his passing, the late Talal Saleh Fawaz was a devoted supporter of President Bio and a strong believer in the Paopa movement.
His presence was felt across the country, as he actively participated in campaign activities in several districts and chiefdoms.
While consoling the bereaved family and mourners, President Bio described the late Fawaz as a loyal friend and committed supporter who consistently demonstrated love and passion for his leadership.
“I am here to acknowledge and appreciate the many efforts he made during my campaign,” President Bio said. “Wherever I went, he was there with me.
He may have been a common man to many, but to me, he was a true supporter.”
The President prayed for Allah’s mercy, asking that the late Fawaz’s sins be forgiven and that his soul be granted eternal rest in Al-Jannah.
Speaking on behalf of the Lebanese family in Sierra Leone, Mr Ahmed Hashim, popularly known as VIP, expressed gratitude to the President, the First Lady, government officials, and party stakeholders for honouring the late Fawaz. He said the gesture reaffirmed the sense of belonging and appreciation felt by the Lebanese community as citizens of Sierra Leone.
The ceremony featured recitations from the Holy Qur’an by the Chief Imam, followed by the Janazah prayer for the late Talal Saleh Fawaz.
