President Julius Maada Bio on Thursday August 23rd 2018 officially blessed a three day induction workshop of the country’s newly appointed High Commissioners, Ambassadors and Financial Attaches at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation headquarters at Tower Hill, Freetown.

Present were the diplomatic corps, the Speaker of Parliament, cabinet ministers and invited guests from MDAs, INGOs and NGOs.

Giving the keynote address, President Bio said, the international policies of the former government were not in the best interest of the country and its people.

He said, his New Direction Government foresees a vibrant diplomatic service that is at the forefront of promoting trade relations with other countries, and one that is result-oriented and embodies exemplary performance with respect for the 1961 Vienna Convention and the 1963 Consular Relations protocols.

He called for collective responsibility from the diplomats in repositioning Sierra Leone on the global diplomatic map.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Alie Kabba called the event historic and great, stating that President Bio has a clear cut foreign policy based on respect for international laws and attracting of foreign investors into the country.

Other speakers included the Director of Foreign Affairs, Paul Minah, whilst the vote of thanks was given by the deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nimatula Bah-Chang.
