In over 18 months of the New Direction deliverables, the country's principal statesman, President Julius Maada Bio took time off after the 74th UNGA to meet Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora including Fullahs in North America.


Addressing Sierra Leoneans and members of the Fullah Progressive Union of North America (FPUNA) in New York, on Friday 27th September, 2019 President Bio who was adorned in an ethnic Fullani hat said that Sierra Leoneans should work together to move the country forward irrespective of their ethno-regional origins.

He used the occasion to praise his abled Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh as an active and operational VP. He said unlike former Vice Presidents, Dr Juldeh Jalloh oversees numerous portfolios and tasks that he has assigned to him. Overall he expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Vice President and the manner in which he regularly updates and engages him.

The remarks of President Bio did not come as a surprise to many Sierra Leoneans who have been closely following the work of the Vice President and more importantly the way he conducts himself as an abled and humble lieutenant of the President. His vast knowledge of development issues across various sectors is usually applauded every time he is opportuned to make statements. During the last SLAJ convention held at the Golden Tulip hotel, the Vice President was given a standing ovation for his brilliant and forward looking keynote address. Recently, he delivered a break through speech at the same complex during the commemoration of World Democracy Day where he called for a review of the electoral system to help enhance women’s participation in electoral politics and governance.
