The Commission of Inquiry’s investigations into assets of past officials, including cabinet ministers and deputies and heads of Parastatals and Agencies of ex-President Ernest Bai Koroma led APC government since its inception of power in 2002 to 2017 when it relinquished power has uncovered huge assets acquired by state officials for the period under review.


According to the witness, Inspector Ibrahim Kargbo previously attached to the Harbor Police Station now at the Commission of Inquiry, the information relating to these properties was provided by the Administrator General upon request made by the Commission of Inquiry.

From the witness testimony before the Ghanian born Justice William Annan Attugba, Leonard Balogun Koroma who served as Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office and Minister of Transport and Aviation and was later sacked before APC lost power reportedly had 9 modern houses.

He claims the fugitive Minister has 3 houses in the capital, Freetown, 2 in Kono District, his homeland and 4 in Bo District.

In another development before Sierra Leonean born Justice Bankole Thompson, Dr. Denis Sandy who was APC’s Lands Minister now serving as Minister in the same Ministry in the SLPP government is said to have two houses in Bo District.

According to Dr Sandy, one of the houses was built with the consultancy fees he received from various institutions, his study leave allowances from Germany and salaries from Fourah Bay College. The other, he said, he acquired from his late father.

He said one of the houses belongs to his wife and it is valued at Le100M, while the other is valued at Le350M.

Dr Sandy said, he owns about 3 to 4 town lots, which he said was given to him as gift by one Ivan Johnson at Regent for the good work he did for him.

However, it remains unclear whether the said gift was given to him while serving as Minister.
