The National Reform Movement (NRM) of the All People’s Congress that has been celebrating victory over the unanimous approval of the use of the Election Clause have expressed anger at what they suspect as an attempt by the party’s old guards to doctor the party’s delegates list in a bid to circumvent the party’s draft revised constitution.

NRM authorities insist that the final delegates list should be made public weeks before the Mini-Convention.

A renowned Freetown lawyer who is a patron of the party has vowed to take the APC party to court and disrupt the Mini-Convention process.

He is backed by more than five hundred delegates that have promised to boycott the Mini-Convention scheduled to take place in the 2nd week of December, 2019.

All of them alleged that the APC Secretary General, Dr. Alhaji Foday Osman Yasaneh upon instruction received from Chairman and Leader, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, has been busy changing or manipulating the names of party’s delegates to enable them maintain their positions including those loyal to them.

Mama Yabome Sankoh, a delegate for Tonkolili District resident in Freetown told this reporter that the secret behind the on-going attempt to manipulate the delegates list is to give favor to Ernest Koroma’s favorites.

She said most of his men and women he supported under the period of the Selection Clause in the likes of Samura Kamara for flag bearer, Minkailu Bah, APC district Chairman for Tonkolili District, Secretary General Yasaneh have little chance of retaining their position. She opined that publishing the delegates list gives all intending aspirants chance to interact with and canvass the delegates.

“A delegate can only be replaced by another, provided there is enough justifiable reason to prove that the delegate in question is dead or physically or mentally ill or voluntarily resigns,” one delegate said.

He maintained that the same old delegates list used over the years is the one that should be used until new delegates are elected.

“Any attempt to change a name without reasons appropriate to constitutional demands of the party is dishonesty and could be subject to further judicial challenges,” the delegate who is a Lawyer avowed.
