The Director General of National Civil Registration Authority, Mohamed Massaquoi has confirmed that the Ministry of Finance has dished out Le40 billion to commence the biometric registration exercise.


He made this disclosure on Thursday 20th February 2020 at the weekly government press briefing at the Ministry of Information and Communication’s conference hall, Youyi Building in Freetown

Massaquoi said the exercise which is expected to start in Freetown in March and ends in May in the Eastern Region is supported by the Irish Government, European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

He said Nine Thousand Sierra Leoneans will gain temporary employment. The exercise, he said, is to ensure Sierra Leone meets international standards to determine its population ratio.

He said births, deaths and marriages etc will also be registered. The exercise aims at curbing corruption and other leakages which has been a serious problems in the past governments.
