National Electoral Commission (NEC) charged with the responsibility of conducting all national election will be struck out of all election petition cases.

NEC in all elections petition matters are serving as second, third and forth accused which include NEC as an institution, Chief Electoral Commissioner and the Regional commissioner.

Addressing the presiding judge of the Appeals Court, Justice Sengu Koroma in the election petition civil appeals between the appellants (the main opposition All People’s Congress Party) and the respondents (the Sierra Leone People’s Party), the lead counsel representing NEC, lawyer D.E. Taylor said, they will ask the bench to strike out NEC service as 3rd to 4th accused because their submissions were not countenanced in the past ruling of election petition of Members of Parliament in High Court.

“We are going to make a written application to the bench since there is no need for NEC representation in the matter” he said.

Meanwhile, the presiding Judge, Justice Sengu Koroma has asked the legal counsel to make a written submission.
