Alfred Paolo Conteh and others have on Thursday May 21, 2020 appeared in Court before Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens to answer to crimes relating to illegal possession of firearms and other felonious offences.


In order to strengthen the precautionary measures instituted by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation through the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Judiciary of Sierra Leone encouraged both parties in the said matter to reduce their number of legal representations.
To adhere to this directive, both parties agreed to decongest the Courtroom by reducing their number of legal representations. And as such, Paolo Conteh is represented by Dr Abdulai O. Conteh, Joseph F. Kamara & Wara Serry-Kamal.

In similar development, Ady Macauley, Africanus Sesay & others were in attendance to represent Paolo Conteh.

On the other hand, the State is represented by the Attorney General & Minister of Justice, Priscilla Schwartz, Adrian Fisher as lead prosecutors; Director of Public

Prosecutions-Mr. Ngakui, D.J Soyie, J.K Sesay, Robin Mason and Umaru Napoleon Koroma all in attendance for the State.

In submitting the case for the State, the learned AG questioned that, "How can a trained soldier who has held several positions of security nature, above all a Barrister who knows the law of the land, carried a loaded gun to the Office of the President, if not to use it?."

The Judiciary of Sierra Leone under the Presidency of Rtd Brigadier Julius Maada Bio respects the law, particularly Section 23 of the Constitution of Sierra Leone, Act No.6 of 1991.
