Orange Money have doled out Le100 million (Nle100 thousand) in prize money to the winners of the Orange Money Okada Man football tournament.


The tournament which was played in December 2022 saw a soccer jamboree of eight teams drawn from some of the biggest parks in Freetown.

The events brought together hundreds of Okada Riders to compete against one another, with over 400 players participating in the five days’ tournament.

The top three teams received their cheques on Friday 6th January 2023 after a brilliant display in the tournament in December 2022.

Winners of the tournament, Thunderhill Bike Riders received Le50 million, whiles runners up BMO United received Le30 million and National FC who finished third received Le20 million.

Martha Sumaila, a Marketing Executive of Orange Sierra Leone said, "I am happy with the tournament and we want to continue doing this, to empower bike riders all over the country. We want to see more bike riders using Orange Money with their passengers. This is part of the collaboration we have with the Bike Riders Union."

Secretary General of the National Bike Riders Union, John S.K. Banya praised Orange for standing by them and praised how the tournament was handled.

"We appreciate Orange a lot for this. On behalf of me and my 1 million members of this union we want to express our gratitude to Orange for this," he said.
"Indeed Orange is the best network in the country. This year will be bigger because we want to deepen our collaboration with them (Orange)."

For Orange Money this tournament is also one of the many ways to strengthen a youthful mass of the population.

One of the players said the money will go a long way in solving a lot of the financial difficulties they are going through to make ends meet.
