Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited made a USD$5,000 donation to Njala University on Thursday 15th June, 2023.

The bank, which celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year, was approached by the Njala University Class of 1973 for its support towards the water project they are working on to improve access to clean water for students. Dr Julius Spencer, an alumnus and a committee member of the Class of 1973, championed the proposal on behalf of the university.

The presentation on behalf of the Managing Director, Board, and Staff was done by the Director of Internal Audit, Ms Olayinka Phillips. She expressed the bank's concern for the plight of the students and SLCB's gestures to help in that direction.

The Director went together with Victor T. Biandoma Esq., Director Company Secretary; Shuaib Sahid Kamara, Head of Corporate Affairs, and Junisa B. Farma, Head, Operational Risk Management.

The Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof. Bashiru Koroma, thanked the bank for its continued support of the university, noting that it is not the first time SLCB has come to their aid.

The Njala University Class of 1973 and the SLCB coincided in being in existence 50 years ago. As a result, the partnership in which they too made their contribution is a blessing to the university.
